Giving back to the local community is important to Kristy Altman. Altman Consulting was established to serve small business and nonprofit organizations but Altman also serves on a number of boards and committees for the area.

Altman served as a Founding Board Member for Volunteer Knoxville (VK) from June 2014 - December 2015 as well as the Chair for the VK Branding and Messaging Committee. Altman previously served as a mentor for tnAchieves for over three years and was the Marketing Committee Co-Chair for Let’s Move Knoxville for three years. Altman served as the Governance Chair for the Leadership Knoxville Board of Directors and as a member of the Leadership Knoxville Facilitation Committee from July 2015 through April 2017when she resigned to take a position with the organization.
With 20+ years’ experience in organization and event management as well as strategic communications planning, Kristy Altman decided to fulfill her dream of owning her own business.
Professionally, Altman has worn many hats throughout her career. Working since high school and through college, she held supervisor or management positions while maintaining coursework.
As an adult, Altman has spent a great deal of time managing nonprofit organizations. In those roles, she was responsible for all aspects of business including budgeting, operations, programming, public relations and marketing, volunteer management, staff managements, and board interactions. Altman returned to the Knoxville Track Club as the Interim Executive Director in November 2014 and was hired as the permanent Executive Director in February 2015. During her tenures, Altman was been able to increase both membership and race participation while implementing new programs, recruiting key volunteers, and increasing brand recognition. Altman resigned from the Knoxville Track Club in April 2017 and began work as the Community Director for Connect Knox - a Leadership Knoxville initiative - in that same month. Her current role focuses on developing and connect community leaders while overseeing the program objectives.
Altman has also spent time in a public relations agency environment where she was Director for Client Service. In that role, Altman was ultimately responsible for ensuring client work was completed within budget and timeline.
Altman is a 2013 recipient of the Greater Knoxville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and an Introduction Knoxville 2010 Alumni and a graduate of the Leadership Knoxville 2013.
Knoxville is a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family. Kristy and Jason Altman married in 2004 and welcome their oldest son in the summer of 2009. Their second son was born in the summer of 2013.
When she isn’t chasing children or working, Altman is an avid runner and enjoys long distance events. In addition, Altman is a certified Group Exercise Instructor through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and is a trained yoga instructor through Yogafit and other certifying organizations. Altman holds a Mind-Body Specialist certification through ACE and enjoys teaching when she can.
